Journal # 1- Color Red
Hello blind man, I know you would like me to describe to you the color red, well there is a problem and that is that I am not certain of what the color red is. I am also blind in a way, I can still see the world around me yet I can't see the colors like everyone else. My fresh shinning red is a grassy green to everyone, I am not sure if the red they telll me is a red I can describe. I will try my best as I am colorblind and what I describe to you might not be true. Red represents love to everyone as it is the favorite color to give in Valentines day and whenever you feel to express love to that special someone. Red is also a violent color as warzones get painted with the blood of soldiers and the innocent, for the cause of each side it is present whenever someone gets injured, the more you see of it the more you worry. When you think of an apple, of its three colors you imagine red first because it is when that apple is at it best, crisp and juicy waiting for you to bite. Feeling red is another story as it gleams just enough to catch your eye and feels smooth to the touch. To me the red I see is warm and cozy like a fire you seek when you can't feel your frozen hands. The red I see does not represent stop, it represents something that makes you laugh as I joke around when I confuse green with red or red with green because you know blind man I am also blind. Red represent strength as a solid color that stands above the others as a leader, it show the way and makes you feel safe. It is a color of love and war, crisp and jucy, smooth and warm, this is the color red how others see it and how I see it. My description may be a lie or theirs might be I can't be certain because I am colorblind.
Journal # 3 - Typing faster
In seventh grade I took a computer class where I learned how to type using all my fingers to increase my speed and with practice learn how to type without looking. At that time I was barely becoming a Pc gamer and my skills weren't that great, my fingers would get tired and my speed while hitting the keys was slow and inaccurate. After 1 semester pasted by I was alot faster at typing and I could do it without looking. As for my Pc gameplay performance, it went much better my response was faster than before, I was winning most of the fights and I was developing my own hands "stances" for faster hitting of the right keys. Not only did my gaming become better my writing became better to, this falls under academic yet my essays where more complete and detailed having me score higher in them. This typing skill still helps me out now making my hand eye coordination better and more reliable, without having to learn this I believe that both my gaming and academic life would be somewhat more difficult.
Journal # 5 -1 million dollars
With 1 million dollars I would choose a program that would help poor families in Mexico so they could get food and have a house to live in. As many know the percentage of people that are poor in Mexico is of a great scale, affecting entire communities and families, especially the children. As they cannot get an education or have a proper meal living with an empty mind and stomach makes their lives short and miserable. Helping them would give them a chance at life to get themselves up from poverty. I would also invest in a program that investigates any time of cruel treatment to kids or people as I have heard of many cases where people are tortured like animals and they end up catching who ever is guilty but they don't receive their proper punishment or when they find out about the abuse it is too late. These types of organizations I believe are under funded so with that million dollars they could gain some more equipment or sources to get their jobs done. These two projects are prioritized because if they gain more success than what they have more lives will be saved and more lives will be improved.
Journal # 7- A Laptop in the past
If I had to bring a piece of technology into the past I would bring a computer(laptop) to the medieval times because back then everything was still simple. Rocks, steel, horses, arrows, swords mostly simple things, me bringing a laptop and showing what it can do would amaze people of the time making them easy to control. I would show them how in the distant future we are going to be able to communicate with anyone around the world with just a few clicks and movement of our fingers. I would tell them about the social networks such as twitter and facebook and how they keep us connected to our friends and family, and how it distracts us from doing our chores. I will also show them the interior of the laptop and try to explain to them how its different components such as the motherboard, core and graphics card make the machine run and do as you tell it to(with the mouse and keyboard). Showing them what we will be able to do in the future with computers might have the creation of the first computer happen much earlier, making computers much more efficient and advanced in our current time. Also this would mean that the scientific revolution could happen much earlier as people see how the laptop can do so much making them discover how does it all work.
Journal # 8 Related Quote
"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction."-Albert Einstein. I have always looked up to Einstein as I believe him and I could strike one long, funny, and interesting conversation with our out of place personalities and geniuses. For me I try to find other routes to achieve certain things, for example while my homework or project may say to to something a certain way I either skip steps to make it easier by finding some other equation or I turn the project upside down doing something different yet still in line with what I am asked for. Going the opposite way is a thing I do often without noticing, in some cases it makes what I am doing harder but I keep on at it so when I do as everyone else it becomes even easier. Not only in my work do I go against the rules but in my appearance most of my friends have short hair and I am one of the only ones with long hair making me stand out from the group. Also I am colorblind so the way I look at the world is different from others, then again going in the opposite direction. "It takes a touch of genius" to spice up peoples days, I always tend to make my friends laugh or we go into a topic that is pure seriousness making those boring 2 or 3 hours classes more entertaining, this is a task I am used to doing but it takes courage to bring up those topic or make a fool of yourself for a bit of entertaining. The days I am absent their lives turn normal, they now have to do their work and there isn't that person who brings up those crazy (serious) topics and turns around their day.
Journal # 9- Gamer's Day
There are a lot of gamers in the world and they deserve to have a holiday where we get shown some respect, stores offer low prices on video games and we enjoy our self's by pulling a 2 day gaming madness with our friends in front of the biggest T.V you can find and we drink energy drinks and munch on chips, snacks, and candy while playing videogames. The date of this holiday would always be on the 3rd weekend of June because by then everyone is out of school and has already rested enough to pull that magnificent all nighter and buy everything with discount. In addition to celebrating by playing, buying and not sleeping, companies should take their time to reveal their big games in those two days to give hype and let us have something to talk about and speculate on their next title. Why would this day be so important, well technology is changing our world and video games are part of it, being able to create a world and put that world on a disk and then have millions of people playing around with that world is a an amazing concept that why Gamer's days should be celebrated as a day where we play videogames with our friends and we show some respect to this technology that only gets better.
Journal # 10 Best Advice-Enjoy Life
The single best piece of advice I have received was " Enjoy your life" which was given by my dad as I told him I was stressed out about school. Why is this the best advice I have gotten? Well because of those words I changed my lifestyle completely. I used to be a big nerdy boy, studies came first and then eating, sleeping or even socializing. I was living a school dedicated life and I knew I needed a change. After I was told to enjoy my life I spent more time with my friends, accepting to "hang out" with them and enjoying myself. I also started paying a bit less attention to school, being more free with myself, not doing one homework or maybe not studying hard enough for a test. By the end of the school year I felt different and of course more relax/happy, my mind was at ease now that I found the balance in my life. I started thinking how many others don't or can't enjoy their lives. How they are caught up with work, or with studies and they are slaves to themselves while they could be out somewhere conquering the world, like I was and still are. Because I still take for granted alot of things, as I stay in my comfort zone and don;t try new things. Yet how I perceive the world is much different from what it was before I got my dad's advice, now as a high school student being close to graduating and being thrown out into the real world I tried to live more by not caring about what others think and doing more unusual things. For now Ill try to break a bone or fracture something, when that happens I know I am living the right way.
